Lake Shasta vs Clear Lake

After a week at Lake Shasta fishing the NewJen Pro/Am it’s great to be home at the Bass Factory! Lake Shasta was fun, catching 100 plus bass a day but nothing over 2 pounds. Yesterday I was out on Clear Lake and it was great. We caught around 60 fish with the best 5 hitting close to 35 pounds. We could break the 8 pound mark but there were 3 over 7. Several more that cracked 6 pounds. Several of the Bass were caught on swim bait while most of came on crank bait and lipless crank baits. At one point the wind died down completely and we had to catch them with worms on a shakey head Frenzy Nail. The fishing on Clear Lake is getting better each week so if your ready for some fun hit me up at 707-543-6677!

Lake Shasta vs Clear Lake

Well after a weekend at Lake Shasta it was great to be back at the Bass Factory. We caught a lot of fish at Shasta last weekend in the NewJen EDGE tournament Saturday but the best fish was barely 2 pounds. Today at Clear Lake we had only around 20 Bass but the smallest fish was better than the largest at Shasta! The water clarity dropped really bad in the south end of Clear Lake since last week but the north end is really clear now. Looks like there is a little rain in the forecast for this week so hopefully the aster level will come up as it as low as I’ve ever seen it right now. Well my calendar is starting to fill for the coming spring so if you’re interested in a trip to Clear Lake this year you should call me ASAP! 707-543-6677

Home Sweet Clear Lake

It’s good to be back at Clear Lake catching big bass. I had a trip yesterday and the bite was great, despite not great weather! We had rain, snow, and high winds but caught lots of nice fish. The best one was a 8.2 pound bass, with a total of around 60 fish. Today I was at Lake Berryessa and it was good there too. Not quiet as big but really nice fish up to 4.5 pounds and we caught smallmouth, largemouth, and spotted bass. Lake Shatsta was awesome but it’s great to be home!

Crazy Weather…Confused Bass

Last weekend I was at Lake Shasta for the Wild West Bass Trail WWBT tournament. We came up .23 of a pound short of a check. Our weight was 12.77 and 13.0 was the last check at 39th place in a 195 team tournament. Lake Shasta is a beautiful lake with some awesome fishing. After the tourney my partner and I decided to stay another day and we sacked the spotted bass yesterday. We had 17+ pounds which is what it took to win the day before. Our best fish was a 4.9 pound spot. I guess that’s fishing! Now back at Clear Lake and Lake Berryessa for some big fish. Hopefully the crazy weather hasn’t shut down the bite here!

Fish or Watch the Olympics

Well yesterday the wind blew really hard so I did catch up on the olypics somewhat. Today I’m back in my Ranger boat getting ready to hit Lake Berryessa. The cold front and wind will affect the bass there less than the shallow fish at Clear Lake. Friday I’ll be headed back to Lake Shasta for the Wild West Bass Trail team tournament this weekend. All 3 lakes are fishing really good right now so if you’re ready for the years biggest bass, hit me up!

Wild West Bass Trail (cont.)

Well it seems as though all of my post didn’t make so here’s the rest…I don’t normally guide on Lake Shasta but since I’m going to be up there this week or anytime for that matter I’d be happy to take someone out if you’d like to check out this beautiful lake. The fishing is really good now and there are some absolute giant spotted bass just waiting to try to jerk the rod out of your hand. When one of these fish grab your lure, hang on! Also the scenery is incredible with bald eagles everywhere. So if you are tired of Clear Lake and Lake Berryessa hit me up and let’s hit Shasta county!

Wild West Bass Trail at Shasta

As bad as I hate to leave Lake and Napa counties, it’s time to head to Lake Shasta for the WWBT pro/am tournament. I am looking forward to that tourney though as it have done well there the last couple years. This year I’m going to add the floating fly to my arsenal. Past years my top techinics have been senkos, tubes, swimbaits, and the A-rig. After that it’s back to Clear Lake to prepare to the Leukemia fundraiser tournament along with a couple trips to Lake Berryessa. The 2018 season is underway…

Clear Lake vs Lake Shasta

Well Lake Shasta is officially off limits to all competitors in the WWBT pro/am next weekend. Looking forward to fishing that tournament again this year. As far as Clear Lake there are some good bass and crappie being caught. The water is starting to stabilize and clear so the fishing is only going to get better. Wether you are looking to catch a huge limit of crappie or the bass of a lifetime now is the time to head to Clear Lake. As far as Lake Bwrryessa goes it is filling fast and the fish are eating. Call me and let’s do it!!!

Lake Shasta Here We Come

Time to leave Clear Lake again as bad as I hate to. The fishing here is getting better everyday and I’m going to Lake Shasta to fish the Wild West Bass Trail…the first pro-am of the California region. They still need observers so if any one is interested in a good way to learn the lake this is the best opportunity ever! No cost to the observer! Plus you get to fish. I’ll be back at Clear Lake next week looking for some of the big bass that are starting to stage in the prespawn areas. It’s time to start throwing the big baits for these fish and I can’t wait. Also Lake Berryessa is starting to turn on so I’ll be there a couple days also. Well my calendar is starting to fill up so if you are looking to book a trip this spring give me a call ASAP!
