Last Chance Frog Bite!

There is still a pretty good frog bite here at Clear Lake, but it’s not just every frog that’s catching the better bass. I have found a few areas that are holding a lot really nice fish up to 7 pounds plus some even larger. Wednesday Andy and I caught around 15 fish up to 7 pounds and our best 5 would have been just over 30 pounds. Most of the fish were caught on a modified Snag Proof frog. So if you want to get in on the last of the frog bite give me a call and let’s go get em!

Top Water Time

The fishing on Clear Lake continues to be good. Inconsistent weather through the spring made it tough to find a pattern that would last for more than a few days. Now with the more stable weather the surface bite should take off. Also the grass is starting to mat up so the frog bite will explode soon. There is a good punch bite now and the fish are moving into the rocky areas so the normal summer patterns are starting to work. At our Wednesday Night Shootout this week there were 5 fish caught over 6 pounds. RC won with a 6.57 pounder. I had 4th place with a 6.09.

The topwater bite is going pretty good now. There is also a frog bite in the weedy areas. I caught at at least a dozen bass in the 4 to 5 pound range with 2 over 5 pounds. The algae has started clearing out, and the water looks good in most areas of the lake. If you’re looking for some great bass action, it’s time to head to Clear Lake!
