Spawn and Post Spawn

There are still lots of bass on beds here at Clear Lake, but most of the fish spawned over the last couple weeks. The next couple of weeks the focus will be on the post spawn fish. That means throwing Senkos and swim baits around dock and other post spawn areas. This week I had 3 trips that had clients catching 30 to 40 fish a day on beds mostly using Senkos, swimbaits, jigs, and tubes. Yesterday I had a old client and a friend of his and they caught fish using minnows until they used all four dozen in about 3 hours. Then they started bed fishing and caught another 15 or so bass. Well if you want to get in on the last of the bed fishing here give me a call and lets schedule your trip soon or it will be over and I know you don’t want to have to wait until next year to see these big fish setting in their beds….and feel them pulling on your line!

Two Ten Pound Bass in One Week

I guess it’s safe to say the fishing is great at Clear Lake now. I had three trips this week that were awesome. Saturday Angela caught a 10 pound largemouth bass and then Thursday Mark caught a 10 pound pig. Both fish were caught on minnows but Mark also caught fish on the A rig, jigs, Senkos, rip baits, and big swim baits. Beside these two giants, a lot more fish were caught up 7.5 pounds. Wednesday I had Ramon and Manny with me again, but the east wind blew extremely hard making it really tough to find a place calm enough to fish. They did manage to catch about ten bass up to 5 pounds, just no big ones. Well if you are ready for some of the best bass fishing on the planet give me a call and let’s book your guide trip ASAP!

Top Water Time

The fishing on Clear Lake continues to be good. Inconsistent weather through the spring made it tough to find a pattern that would last for more than a few days. Now with the more stable weather the surface bite should take off. Also the grass is starting to mat up so the frog bite will explode soon. There is a good punch bite now and the fish are moving into the rocky areas so the normal summer patterns are starting to work. At our Wednesday Night Shootout this week there were 5 fish caught over 6 pounds. RC won with a 6.57 pounder. I had 4th place with a 6.09.
