About Your Guide & Contact

Carl Keller, Professional Fishing Guide
Welcome to Clear Lake Bass Guide website.  I am Carl Keller and I look forward to being your guide and helping you catch bass on the Bass Capital of the West, beautiful Clear Lake.  Also, I am now guiding on Lake Berryessa where you can catch largemouth, smallmouth and Spotted bass all in the same day. You can also see beautiful Bald Eagles and Golden Eagles almost every trip.

I grew up in southern Arkansas bass fishing all the local ponds, lakes, and rivers.  I caught my first 5 pound bass in a neighborhood farm pond when I was only 10 years old and have been hooked on bass fishing ever since!  I caught my first largemouth bass over 8 pounds (8.25) on the Arkansas River in 1983. I fished my first tournament in 1979 at the age of 16 and finished in 3rd place.   Since then I have fished lakes and rivers throughout the country; including Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Florida and of course California.  The variety of waters that I have fished has been a tremendous benefit in diversifying my skills and techniques as an angler and guide.  These experiences have formed me into the angler, guide and teacher that I am today.

In 1990 I joined the U. S. Air Force and moved to California – Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield.  Since then I have fished many of the lakes and rivers in Northern California with Clear Lake in Lake County being what I consider to be my home lake.

I moved to Lake County in 2008 and currently reside on the lower lake portion of beautiful Clear Lake.  I spend countless days fishing here every month of the year.  The bass fishing on Clear Lake can be awesome every month of the year.  Bass can be caught here with jigs, worms, cranks baits, and swimbaits during the winter months.  In the spring and summer you can catch bass at Clear Lake with those same techniques with the addition of top-water lures such as frogs, buzz baits and spooks.

Lake Berryessa on the other hand is also a great lake for bass fishing.  After three wins in a row in Anglers Choice tournaments I have decided to guide here as well.  The techniques used at Lake Berryessa are quiet a bit different than Clear Lake.  We still use most of the same lures with just a little twist.  In the winter we fish much deeper here than Clear Lake.

Check out the rest of the site and get the latest fishing information about Clear Lake from the Fishing Reports section and enjoy the photos of former clients.  If you are interested in holding up a bass like one of these, contact me soon to charter bass fishing trip.  I’d be honored to be your personal Bass Guide on Clear Lake or Lake Berryessa!
